28 Indian states and their capitals, including 8 Union Territories

India, officially known as the Republic of India, is the seventh-largest country in the world and the second most populous. It is located in southern Asia and operates under a parliamentary form of government. Due to the vast size and diverse population of the country, managing it from a single location becomes challenging. To address this, the Indian Constitution grants the central government the authority to create states as deemed necessary.

Currently, India consists of 28 states and 8 Union territories. Each state has its own administrative, legislative, and judicial capital, although some states have all three functions centralized in a single capital. The Chief Minister serves as the head of government in each state. In this article, we provide you with the latest information on the states and capitals of India, including both the Indian States and Union Territories.
